A Nine Year Old on Easter

Tonight as we sat down to a dinner of bacon and pancakes, we folded our hands, closed our eyes and I asked Noelle to pray. I added "Don't forget, it's Easter week." She began "God, thank you for your birthday, and help us all to have a good birthday and to remember our birthday this week. Amen." Before I even poured the syrup, the other kids quickly pointed out her mistake. "Easter isn't His birthday, Christmas is!" Noelle quietly replied. "I know, but Easter is too, and it's all of our birthdays. It's the day we were all reborn."

Preach it sister!

Wow, what a prayer! Out of the mouths of babes, huh? Someone did a good job raising that little girl :)

Isn't it amazing what comes from the mouths of those you least expect it to?

I LOVE that -- can she come preach at my house? Thank you for sharing -- and dinner sounds YUMMY! :-)

She has always had such good spiritual insight. I will never forget Sunday School at the park when said child was only about 4 and she explained baptism with the theology of a 24 year old. It was great. The other kids were a little freaked out though. We love miss Welly!!!

...I don't know how I ended up here, but glad I did...
Sometimes kids just seem to understand the big picture of life.

This has nothing to do with this particular post, which is adorable and encouraging, but you are sooo funny! I love your new haircut, too!! I will look forward to visiting again soon!

Remember the verse where Jesus said that you must be like a little child to enter paradise...if we all could keep that little-child mentality about God and who God is, we would be that much closer to paradise in our own lives! (I was humbled by your daughters simple and perfect theology.) Preach is, girl!

Deep, very deep! It's amazing what they learn, isn't it? We always have family prayer before meals and I was surprised with what an impression it made on my daughter. When she was about 14 months old, she was making Daddy dinner in her play kitchen and when they sat down at her little table, she folded her arms, muttered something only the good Lord could understand and said "AMEN!" :=)

how sweet. it brings tears to my eyes because you know really where her heart is, complete faith in a savior who loves her and she has such a sweet spirit anyway. what a honey.
