My poor, poor flower beds.
Recent casualties include:
- My Bleeding Heart and surrounding ferns murdered by little boys looking for a soft place to "camp".
- A struggling little baby hosta, trying to find it's way in the cold hard world but living too close to the egress window, the potential home to small animals who have fallen into their prison
- Colombine, plucked for it's unique blossom shape, the perfect addition to a home grown backyard concoction of some kind.
On a happier note, I finally cleared off my kitchen table. (Don't count the days on that one) and we are finally eating indoors, all together again. Hallelujah.

yay, i wish i was out of school at your house too!!! cant wait till it is summer....i guess it is....why isn't it warm?!?!?!?!!
Oh Heth, I get such a kick out of reading your blogs! the fact that my grandkids are having fun climbing trees, riding bikes, making forts, toad hunting, "camping" and in general doing all those wonderful (and yet so frustrating) things that totally mess up a house and a yard, makes me happier than you can ever know.....the memories they will have! and bless you for encouraging and helping to create those memories. yb
hey~ I cleared my table after months and months of mess on one end (we would eat at the other end).... BUT I will confess it is because the sitter was coming over! Tried to clean so she does NOT think we live in the messy pit that we DO live in. SMILE!
Sounds the a great beginning to summer. Sorry about your garden assaults, but yay for getting the kitchen table clean. Did you get new sand?
The casualty list reminds of when we would keep vacation journals and at least one year you kids kept track of what road kill we saw. (Because the were animals we didn't have around here.) So keep that casualty list coming because us grandmas are loving it!
I'll bring you a new hosta and a rock to put beside it for protection.
You need to write a book. With pictures. Lots & lots of pictures. :-)
