We have been having a particularly crabby day around the Laundry Pile (which by the way is huge and never ending this week). Let me just say it for posterity's sake.
I. Hate. Laundry.
It just never stops. Tyler was asking for clean socks this morning and know what I told him? Go look in the dirty laundry pile. Can you believe I have stooped so low? Ah well, it's not gonna kill him.
Annnnnyway. Jack and Caedmon are up to their cold weather antics and they are mentoring Gemma quite well. Today they pulled couch cushions off, snuck into the fridge, tried to make forts out of the sheets that were on the beds but now aren't. *grumble* It has been one thing after another and I am just grouchy about it. But one thing made me smile. Jack. He could see that I was having a bit of a bad day so he just let me know: "You're my best friend Mom." Awwww. Isn't that just precious? I won't tell you that he uses it for evil as well as good. Sometimes, when he is in trouble or being scolded, he makes sure to tell me that "I'm not gonna be your friend Mom." Ok, whatever, but I'm still your mom and you still aren't going to sneak spoonfuls of sugar straight out of the sugar bowl.

Come on - what's wrong with spoonfuls of sugar? You know you do it, too. :) And I've made the kids wear dirty socks, too - I'm glad to know I'm not the only one.
Hope your day gets better.
Aw Heth, I understand. We are nearly to the wearing dirty UNDERWEAR stage, which is waaaaay nastier than wearing dirty socks.
Hope it gets better soon.
I am a laundry hater too. I envy those who talk about having their laundry all caught up. What does that mean? Is there honestly not a stitch of clothing in the laundry room? None in the bedrooms? No pile of clean clothes piled somewhere? Obviously it has never occured at my house.
Yes, I am one of those that has laundry "all done" :) I only have ONE child. Don't hate me. :) And I do my laundry all at once in the basement of our building. So for about 1/2 day there isn't any. So just get rid of some of those kids, Heth. It will all get better then. Ha ha. Hang in there mama...dirty socks aren't bad. And a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down...the medicine go dooooooowwwwnnnn, medicine go down.
I remember being in HIGH SCHOOL and digging dirty socks out of the hamper...here's something REALLY gross and weird...I'd IRON those socks to try to get the stinky smell out! YUCKKKKKK
(Please don't blame my mother. A high schooler is perfectly capable of getting his/her own laundry done. I was/am a big procrastinator.)
p.s. thank you so much for taking care of my kiddos this weekend!!! you are awesome!!!!! <3
laundry is never... never... never ending!!! crazy! and i don't think that i will ever forget jack's sweet voice, "do you have any sugar for our popcorn?" jack, do you like sugar? "no i loooovvvee sugar!" what a honey!
i think you need to bundle up outside and go roll down a big hill somewhere with me. why? cause it would be fun.
dishes....hate dishes!!!!! They never stop ever!!! And noone does em but me!!! *ahhhhhh* I soooo need a dishwasher. Thanks for being honest!! It helps to know I'm not the only one.
Can you remember the laundry MOUNTAIN in the basement when you were a kid? Once in a while that image flashes into my brain when I am down there. I think it was when your dad took over laundry that it finally disappeared. And all but two of you moved out! Maybe if the machines had a huge window overlooking a beautiful mountain range it would be easier to stand there load after load.....
So THAT'S why Jack in so doggone sweet.....spoonfuls on the sneak!
dishes AND laundry, no matter how much I do them, they are still there. and i only have 3 kids. esp winter laundry. that is why i think summer is my favorite time of year, no socks or hoodies or jeans. and LOTS of cookouts!!!
i wish i could say it gets better, but really as our kids get bigger...so do their clothes ***sigh***
Dirty socks...hmmm, I think I just put on a pair myself! ;) I am so happy that the fuzzy-furry boots are in, because if we can't find socks the girls just put on the boots and all is well! When it got cold, Matt and I looked at each other and said...time to go get them all boots. It is so much easier then wasting time washing socks!
Now for the sugar issue...for one-didn't they learn that from you?...or do you stick to just guzzling coffee creamer? second-Alivia pulls the whole bag out and starts in on it. When I put the bag back she then proceeds to lick the table where she spilled it all over!
My girls so pull that whole 'I won't be your friend' business. Aggravating, but oddly funny.
Right now I am procrastinating folding my 7! loads of clean laundry that have been haunting me for way too long.
I guess there's always the old European (I think that was the group) practice of sewing people into their clothes for the year. Cuts on laundry and mending!
I can't believe your kids have to SNEAK sugar from the sugar bowl. Man, those kids are deprived.
I hit laundry bottom soon after the birth of baby #5, on the day my husband opened his drawer and stated, "I have no socks."
Although I had the best of intentions by *starting* a load the night before, it never made it to the dryer. I told him, "Your choice: Dirty or Wet." And he chose wet.
Socks from the dirty hamper? Isn't that what Febreeze what invented for? I don't even have to tell my kids anymore where to get clothes if none are clean. Either they get dirty socks or they do their own laundry.
It helps if dh has at least 2 weeks worth of boxers and a gazillion pairs of socks.
The only time I have ever caught up with laundry is when all 3 of my kids have gone to New Hampshire for SoulFest and are gone for 5 days.
It does get better. I promise.
Man, I love this blog.
Thanks for sharing your adventures in the laundry pile.
It is a relief to know I am not alone.
