FOURTEEN?!

I don't think he's the last eighth grader in the world to get a phone, pretty close though.

Yesterday Tyler turned fourteen and we allowed him to play hookie for the afternoon to hang out with his dorky parents. It's worth it when you are hitting the Verizon store and getting a Chocolate out of the deal. I'm wondering how long it will be before it takes a ride in a pocket through the washing machine. We killed a little time at the park and let the little ones play. I love watching my teenager be so tender with his littlest siblings.

I see such big changes in you this year Tyler. More than just your hair turning curly. You are becoming quite an amazing young man and we are proud of you.

Welcome to the "My oldest is 14" club!

There is something truly amazing about watching your oldest interact with your littlest ones. When I watch my 14 year old care for his little sisters and brother that is when I know we've done a good job as parents.

Job well done to you as parents:) - and I'm sure the new cell phone was a huge hit too!

Wow, my youngest and your oldest share a birthday? Happy Birthday to Tyler! And I'm glad he wasn't the last one to get a phone.

My brother's hair turned curly at that age, and 3 of my girls did the same. Hormones do so crazy and amazing things.

Love the photos.

I bet he felt a new sense of independence today! I bet he smiled from ear to ear all day and kept feeling that phone in his pocket to make sure it was really there.

These are precious years! We say that about the baby years, but I love the teenage years just as much. There is something that happens when the oldest turns fourteen. It seems the others come to this age alot more quickly.

Treasure these days with him (them)Heather just as much as you do when they are little. It can be tricky with little ones in tow, but God is gracious and will give you what you need to be the mom of teens too!

Teens can jump in the car and go to the store with you and some of the best conversations have happened while driving. Stay close, listen alot, and talk about everything and don't be afraid to ask questions :)

Happy Birthday to your boy! And I totally agree I absolutely love seeing my older kids interact with the younger ones. It is some of my favorite moments.

Happy belated birthday to Tyler.

He sounds like a great kid who isn't so much of a kid anymore.

I don't know you or your family (first visit to the blog too, I think) but wanted to say that I love that picture of him with his sibling at the slide. A picture is worth a thousand words.
