Just A Whole Lot Of Randomness

Have I mentioned that school starts tomorrow? Yippee! The kids always do a great job the last few weeks of summer, making the transition easier for me. They make sure to pull out all the bickering and antics that they have so that I'm not too sad to send them back to the classroom. They are doing it for me. Really. The school supplies are bought. The pencils are sharpened. The backpacks are packed. Everyone has a new pair of shoes. We are ready.

I also mentioned that I'm ready to get back into some sort of routine. Normally we just fly by the seat of our pants around here. Most of the time that works. After a summer of just winging it, I'm ready for some structure with a capitol S. Regular bed times. Everyone leaving the house in the morning to get educated. (everyone except for the three little musketeers) More devotion time with less interruptions. (The less interruptions thing is just a theory) Everyone eating together, and eating actual meals, not just whatever I can think of at 5:30. And best of all...(shout it with me, with joy) REGULAR BEDTIMES! Hallelujah.

Another thing I'm really excited about is that I just started training for another half marathon. I ran my first one ever last June and fell in love with running all over again. Yesterday was the 3 year anniversary of my first race ever, a local 10k that kicked my butt and then spit in my face. As I stumbled across the finish line that day, I vowed I would never run a race again. A couple days later I was wondering if I could run 6 miles faster than I had in the race. That's when it began. I liked running for reasons other than trying to lose weight. I had actual goals. A couple months after running my first half marathon, I found myself pregnant and slowly had to taper the running down. Now I'm ready to give it a go again. I've been building up a base of mileage and yesterday was the official day one of our nine week training plan. I'm running with two friends, Kelsey, who is possibly the sweetest person you have ever met in your life. Seriously. And Natalie, a dear friend for, WOW!, 8 years now. Good gracious. This is her first big race and she is such a trooper, battling some foot issues but still cranking out the miles and with a smile.

Happy news on the clothes front. I bought myself two running skirts. People. These skirts are the best thing ever. I picked them up at the Nike outlet and I'm deeply in love. Nothing makes you feel more feminine than a skirt, and when do you need to feel pretty the most? When you are sweating like a man. Like a large, sweaty, stinky man. No matter how bad my b.o. at least I'll look like a girl.

Last but not least, I'm dying to share some of my vacation photos with you. I took four rolls, somebody stop me. But after reading what happened to my friend Gretchen, I'm really, really hesitant. In fact I think I'm going to wait until I'm able to watermark my photos before I post anymore of them. The Internet is a scary place sometimes.

I hate to end on such a downer. Let's end with something happy.

School starts tomorrow.

Oh, I can totally relate to your glee over school starting. The marathon training? Not so much...

Running skirts? I had no idea.

Don't you know? "Horses sweat, men perspire, women glow." Even after a marathon. You might be glowing like a thousand exploding suns, but still, it sounds nice.

Loved the skirt! If our "trail buddies" knew you were a momma of 7, their jaws would drop. :) This is going to be a fun and exciting fall.

Heth I'm dying laughing here about the skirts, not the skirts but the sweat like a man part!

I'm in the same boat, for some reason when school starts I cook better. Tonite I made lasagne, salad and breadsticks. Ethan said, "Wow mom, thank you for making us real supper!" I guess the random stuff I throw together during the summer doesn't feel like real supper for E.

anyway, I hope you have an AWESOME day tomorrow!!!

Good luck in your running!

I personally love to swim. Honestly, I'm such a clutz I'd fall flat on my face over and over if I tried to run! :0)

The picture thing is a pain in the butt.

Our Boutique community on ebay has dealt with this for about 7 years now. Pictures of the kids modeling continually get nabbed and passed off as either the nabbers child OR their designs.

Pathetic really...

I caught the running bug after my 3rd was born and I've been running like crazy ever since. There is just something very addicting about it.

I've wondered about those skirts for quite a while now - you really like them? They don't rub or anything even on long runs of 10 miles or more? I just might have to pick one up.

You'll have to post about your training. I'm always up for new training ideas, etc. Especially when it concerns training around a hectic family schedule:)

Pam I didn't know you were a runner! FUN! You know, I haven't run anything long in it yet. I just wore it for the first time the other day on a 4 miler. It is pretty short so I made sure to slather my inner thighs in Body Glide and it was fine.

Tanya- Here is one of the skirts. This is the one I have in gray.

Oh, and by the way...

Are you going to have regular bedtimes???

Oh sure, wear the skirts like a woman who has never seen a big blue bulgey varicose vein in her life.

I hate you.

No! Really, I love you. But more importantly, I can't stand you.

Hi, Heth. Sounds like you`re doing great! I envy your recouperation! My sil just had her fourth, and is functioning better than I am. My fourth was my easiest, and I sure wish they all were like that. Anyway, good for you for training. And a running skirt...I`m curious about that for sure.

I have 2 skirts like that. I work out in them and love them. I so wish I could be a runner. I'm always inspired hearing running stories. Not sure what the problem is, but I think it is my asthma. I start to run and get this panic feeling and can't seem to get enough air.

If you like the Nike skirt, you will love the Tricks skirts, and they have a winter version!
